Barry Baxter

Background & History

Barry Baxter was 13 years old, when he learned that his father was the superhero "Spy-der" and worked as an agent for the covert network known as "The W.E.B. Foundation" after he was assumed deceased after recently going missing in action.

Barry decided to follow in his fathers footstep and, using his backup suit and gear provided by the W.E.B., become the teenage superhero "spYdr".

While the W.E.B. wasn't thrilled, that a kid would use their tech to risk his life, they were also aware that they couldn't stop him from "playing" hero, even if they took their tech away, and thus decided to secretly sponsor him and provide training that would help him to protect himself.

Personality & Character Traits

Powers & Abilities

  • spYdr has no inherent or achieved superpowers whatsoever - his "powers" all come from the hight-tech suit and gear he's wearing

  • Hand-to-Hand Combat: Barry received extensive combat training in Street-Fighting, Boxing, Judo, Karate, and various other styles of martial arts from several martial artists experts within the W.E.B.
  • Master Acrobat: He also has underwent more rigorous training in gymnastics and acrobatics with former competitive sportswoman Dianne Grayton a.k.a "Spider Widow" (who also takes care of his mental health in times of stress and experiencing traumatic incidents).

  • Again: He has no superpowers whatsoever!

  • High-Tech Mask with built-in all band transceiver GPS/Microwave including ELF, HUD for tracking, targeting and threat-identification, and auditory and visual sensory amplification devices. A self-cleaning electrostatic precipitation system allows for full Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Filtration.
  • Enhanced Lenses that are able of broad scanning along the electromagnetic spectrum, providing infrared, ultraviolet, X-ray vision, night vision, thermal vision, x-ray vision, and a host of other optical settings.
  • High-Tech Suit outfitted with
    • a woven-in soft-body microweave exo-mesh that absorbs any kinetic energy and can rob incoming objects like bullets of their momentum (they simply fall to the ground when they come in contact with the suit)
    • energy regulators redirect the absorbed kinetic energy, constantly enhancing the wearers general strength, speed, agility, balance, and overall reaction time and can briefly boost the body strength in the wearer, enabling them to lift weights up to 3 tons for a very short time
    • both bulletproof and heat-resistant Kevlar micro-fiber that protects the wearer from high explosive weaponry like anti-aircraft artillery, grenades, shotguns, land mines, shell blasts, and rocket fragments.
    • camouflage nano-technology that allows to blend in with the background (the darker the surface, the better the the camouflage ) and to change the color/style of the costume, or to copy any nearby clothing or appearance
  • Four mechanical spider-arms that are
    • psionically controlled and fully maneuverable/prehensile
    • outfitted with small grippers at the tips working as pseudo fingers to manipulate objects indirectly
    • outfitted with cameras in the tips to see around corners
    • able to be used for active combat (like stingers/talons)
    • able to detach themselves to cover objects and persons for protection
    • able to realease tiny remote controlled mechanical spiders, which can detonate, causing both paralysis and great pain
  • Wall Crawling Gauntlets that facilitate climbing and allow for normal surface adhesion by using electrostatic force between molecular boundary layers, providing the ability to affect the attraction between surfaces with an upper limit of several tons

Barry is a kind of mascot of the W.E.B. and is adored by all members equally. In the case of any possible danger for him during an official mission or a bigger (global) event battle, at least 2 agents of the W.E.B. are immediately at his side to protect and support him.
